Laughter is one of the best things you can do for yourself, not only for your mind, but also for your physical well-being. For this Saturday Morning’s Post I’d like to point you to the blog, Care2, and their post entitled the 7 Benefits of Laughter, which describes the physical affects of laughter on your body. It reports that laughter reduces depression, insomnia, pain and stress and it can improve cardiovascular health, the immune system and personal bonding.

Then, just for fun, I decided to do a Google search on laughter. Here’s what I found. Wikipedia reports that laughter may be the first form of communication in the human race and that there are some animals that ‘laugh‘. According to, humor is infectious and leads to happiness and intimacy among humans. In HowStuffWorks2, you can find out HOW laughter works by watching this video and finally my search found a few quotes from the Quote Garden about laughter that I’d like to share with you.

I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose. ~Woody Allen

Even if there is nothing to laugh about, laugh on credit. ~Author Unknown

Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis. ~Jack Handey, “Deep Thoughts,” Saturday Night Live

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter. ~e.e. cummings

Laughter is an instant vacation. ~Milton Berle

Laughter is the shortest distance between two people. ~Victor Borge

What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul. ~Yiddish Proverb

You gotta love the power of Google, SEO and laughter. I must say that just writing this post cheered me up, I hope it cheers you up, too.

So when life gets you down, make lemonade… and laugh!
